QUEEN BEE

Queen Bee by Katie Casey
This woman in this image is my friend's Great Grandmother.

SOME OTHER EXAMPLES OF MY PROFESSIONAL WORK

HOW I WORK...
The pieces below are examples of my art.  I work using my own photography as well as vintage family photos.  I occasionally borrow antique family photos from friends, and also find wonderful tintypes and cast offs at antique stores that fill in as characters in my stories.
The photographic processes I use are varied.  From traditional black & white  film, double exposures, darkroom alternative processes, daylight cyanotypes, to the newest high tech digital cameras and scanners.
I collage all the elements of each piece using traditional techniques as well as Adobe Photoshop.   While working digitally, it is not uncommon to have over 50 layers in various states while editing.  Once all layers are combined, I print the finished composition out on archival paper.  I complete the piece by drawing in colored pencil.  Because of these final details, all of my "paintings" are one of a kind mixed media works on paper.

CHECK OUT JESSIE'SBLOG !

Jessie has some great links to stop motion videos.  I just saw them and they are wonderful.  They are done like old fashioned "flip books" that used to be drawn out.  Each frame is a photo, then run together in a movie format.  Want to try one?  Takes imagination & lots of careful planning... but I think you ALL have what it takes.

QUESTION & PROBLEM TO SOLVE?

The question is... Why do some photos show up on the followers and some do not?
Who can SOLVE THIS?  Please comment on my blog when you think, or KNOW you have the answer! I would like EVERYONE to have their profile image showing.  So far, Jessie's & Peter's are showing in my followers.
Any ideas? Let's hear from you TODAY Tuesday 11/30/10. Thanks!

CHECK THESE PAINTINGS OUT!

Joy Adams, Flying Lessons
Joy Adams, Waiting For Jack

These paintings are recent works from Joy Adams.  She was a painting professor I had many years ago at SUNY Potsdam. She was awarded a New York State Fellowship grant in the arts to pursue her work.  I was reading about the award & this is when I came across these pieces.  They are huge detailed paintings.  Joy was a big influence on my work 30 years ago and it was a thrill to see hers after so many years.  It, like mine has changed so much.  She is almost 80 now!  This does not seem like the work of someone that old... does it?
